On July 15, 2025, Chinese Ambassador to the UAE H.E.Zhang Yiming met with the Secretary General-Elect of UN Tourism, and Vice President of UAE Rotana Hotel Management Group, Sheikha Al Nowais. 

Ambassador Zhang congratulated Ms. Al Nowais on her nomination as the next Secretary-General of UN Tourism. He stated that UN Tourism is the most influential intergovernmental tourism organization, and China will continue to support and participate in its work. In recent years, China and the UAE have achieved fruitful results in tourism cooperation. China is willing to strengthen bilateral and multilateral cooperation in the tourism sector with the UAE to further enhance mutual understanding between the two peoples.

Ms. Al Nowais expressed gratitude for Ambassador Zhang's congratulations and emphasized her willingness to maintain close communication and coordination with China, continuously deepen practical cooperation in the tourism sector, and jointly promote the prosperity and development of the global tourism industry.
