On May 16, Chinese Ambassador Zhang Yiming and his wife Mrs.Zhu Naizhen met with Sheikha Hoor Bint Sultan Al Qasimi, President and Director of the Sharjah Art Foundation, Director of the Sharjah Biennial.

Ambassador Zhang stated that in recent years, the cultural exchanges between China and the UAE have maintained a good momentum and achieved fruitful results. Sharjah is the "Cultural Capital" of the Arab world, and cultural activities such as the Sharjah Biennial and the Sharjah International Book Fair are world-renowned. China is willing to further deepen cooperation with Sharjah in the fields of culture, art, education, etc. We encourage artists, experts and scholars, and cultural institutions of both sides to strengthen exchanges, and continuously promote people-to-people exchanges.

Sheikha Hoor Bint Sultan Al Qasimi emphasized that Sharjah attaches importance to the development of traditional culture and contemporary art and it regards China as a priority cooperation partner in the field of humanities. Sharjah is willing to discuss with China to hold various cultural and artistic activities to further enhance the mutual understanding and friendship between the people of the two countries.

After the meeting, Ambassador Zhang and his wife visited the 16th Sharjah Biennial with Sheikha Hoor Bint Sultan Al Qasimi.
