On May 9, Chinese Ambassador to the UAE Zhang Yiming was invited to attend the reception held by the Russian Embassy and Consulate in the UAE in Dubai to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Soviet Union's Great Patriotic War. Chinese Consul General in Dubai Ou Boqian accompanied and attended the event.

Ambassador Zhang congratulated Russian Ambassador to the UAE on the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Soviet Union's Great Patriotic War, emphasizing that President Xi Jinping's state visit to Russia and attendance at the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Soviet Union's Great Patriotic War fully demonstrated the deep friendship between China and Russia, as well as the high level of China-Russia comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership. At the reception, Russian expatriates in UAE showed photos and recited ballads, deeply remembering the heroes and martyrs who died in the Great Patriotic War.
